Touch & Carga concept store
Thursday April 14th was the official launch of TOUCH, a concept store located in Manhattan’s Lower East Side, curated by Trendland. The Concept Store will be around for a limited time during which every 2 weeks a new designer or artists’ work will be featured in a solo exhibition in the space. The products will be on sale at the space and on the Touch Concept Store site.
Featured in Rotation#1 is Carga. Carga was established in 2006 by Argentinean born Mauro Bianucci of the desire to produce a unique range of bags for men narrowing the gap between architecture and fashion. Originally trained as an architect at the University of Buenos Aires. Bianucci’s designs use materials and construction techniques from the architectural world to create stylish, masculine pieces. The original collection was designed from industrial wool felt.
The exhibition features products from three of Carga’s product lines. The Leather Sleeves were created for apple products including the iPhone, iPad, and MacBook 13 and 15 inch, they age beautifully and work great as a fancy document folder or even a clutch as well. Then there is the Zero Wastage Collection, which features bags that bring a new angle to the ‘sustainability’ agenda, and do just what they preach – use every piece of the fabric. And finally the Felt Bags. These industrial looking, extremely well constructed bags are available in three sizes form the satchel to the weekender. They are finished with leather details and industrial metal rivets.
